May 24, 2009: Week 10
There’s only one scriptwriting entry remaining and Christopher Valin certainly set us up for a thrilling conclusion. Congrats to him for his terrific Week 9 Entry. We are exactly where we want to be at this point in the story. The stakes are high and everything is resting on Jonas’ shoulders. It’s time for him to prove his mettle as a spy, save his friends, stop Cable from succeeding with his plans and perhaps sweep Nora off her feet in the process.

At the end of Christopher’s entry Jonas had succeeded in breaking into Truth Camp and escaping with the schematics. Despite Walters’ instructions regarding sacrifice, we know that Jonas will be heading back to save his friends and succeed in stopping Cable. But how will he do it? What a great opportunity to come up with an exciting, fun conclusion to the Cowrite screenplay.

Jonas does have one ace in the hole, even if he doesn’t know about it yet. Ava. She obviously eluded Cable’s men and is in perfect position to help Jonas as he goes back to Truth Camp. But maybe Jonas has plans of his own. Perhaps he or he and his friends set up precautionary measures for this eventuality even before they broke into Truth Camp. Maybe they know something Cable doesn’t know and have outsmarted him. Perhaps Jonas and/or Ava even allow themselves to get caught by Cable before they make their final play. Also, how will the group of Truth Camp alums play into this, if at all?

Perhaps at some point in your next entry Jonas succeeds in stopping Helen and Raul, but Cable is able to elude him at first. Or maybe it’s Helen who is about to get away and ultimately makes him choose between stopping her plan and saving Nora. How will Freddie play a role in all this and more importantly how will the ex-spy Walters help Jonas? Ultimately, the good guys will win out (we all know that). The key is having them accomplish it in a way we never expected.

Lastly, don’t forget to leave a little room for the aftermath. Once Jonas has saved the day, what’s the final outcome for him and Nora, Freddie and Walters and Ava? Will Jonas still want to be a spy? Will Walters help him? Will they get home in time for school the next day? You don’t have to devote too much time to this, just enough to wrap things up and have a satisfying conclusion.

We are very excited to see how you all close out the Cowrite screenplay. Again, there’s a ton of potential for a fantastic conclusion. *Please note you have two weeks for the final entry. We figured with Memorial Day Weekend and it being the final entry, the extra week would be helpful.
